Default 94 s10 ss

I am going to go look at a 1994 S10 SS tomorrow. Anybody hear anything good/bad about the SS. Has 200,000 miles but guy says its a rebuit engine and trans about 50,000 miles ago. Whether that is true or not i don't know, I'm going to ask to see papers but i have a feeling he won't have them. Little wear on the seats, tiny bit of body damage on the passenger side bed. Wants 2,700 but i'm gonna offer 2,500. What yall think? I will prolly end up getting it and read the comments after...so hopefully they are good.

I'll be able to drop about 600-800 into it for misc stuff

~Mike

Well it has high output 4.3 195 HP engine which is 50 HP over the reg 4.3., stiffer suspension, and lowered a lil' bit. So its more than just emblems.

I do believe your run of the mill base model 4.3 of that year would be a Vortec and have the same HP rating..........Just need to ask, if you know all that why ask then be a smart ass about it? Just curious....My guess is that it has the ZQ8 suspension as well, and corny stripes. IMO the SS moniqure should be reserved for high performance V8 models, but if Chevy can sell some jazzed up base model vehicles to the unknowing masses with 2 letters..............so be it and enjoy. Sorry all it struck a nerve.

I do research things before i buy things. I looked up the stuff i wrote. Usually there is no better place than forums to get real information instead of car reviews by professionals. Plus i wasn't trying to be rude, I was just stating fact. After re-reading it did look a bit snotty. My bad

from wiki..

SS

The Chevrolet S-10 SS was a high performance version of the S-10, introduced in 1994. Fewer than 3000 SS's were produced yearly on average. When introduced, the SS was sold in only three colors: Onyx Black, Summit White, and Apple Red. The SS was discontinued in 1998. In 1999, it was replaced by the S-10 Xtreme.

A 4.3 liter V6 (which was optional on regular S-10s) was the primary engine used in the SS version, producing between 180 and 195 hp (145 kW). The SS included lowered suspension, cosmetic changes such as a different grille, body-colored bumpers, 16" wheels, and other sporty touches. All SS versions were regular cabs. A step-side version was available from 1996-1998. The SS option package was only available with an automatic transmission and 3.42 posi-traction rear-end.

looks like its just your standard 4.3L.. the death of it is the 3.42 rear end and the auto transmission..

if i were you wich im not.. if you wanted "more truck for the buck"

id find a 4.3L 5spd single cab shortbed.. cost much less than $2700
